Calling All Volunteers!

Thank you to all who donated funds to purchase supplies for our stand! This event would not be possible without the generosity of those who give beforehand. Your donation will be multiplied many times over as we take our small budget and use it to generate a BIG donation to the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation! All proceeds from our 2 day lemonade stand and bake sale will go directly to the foundation!

The next goal is to have volunteers lined up to help with baking and for the two day event. Please see times below and let me know if you are interested!

KIDS GET CANCER! YOU CAN HELP!

Announcing Our 3rd Annual

Alex’s Lemonade Stand!

What: 3rd Annual Alex's Lemonade Stand and Bake Sale to benefit the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. 100% of money raised will go to this foundation aimed at finding cures for pediatric cancers.

Where: Oakfield Community Days Celebration at the Town Park on Drake Street in Oakfield (formerly Labor Daze)

When: Sunday September 4 and Monday September 5

Why: In 2009 our family was introduced to the world of pediatric cancer when our son Brady was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Once you experience pediatric cancer firsthand, you are forever changed. We have committed ourselves to help raise money to find cures for children with cancer. There are many cancer organizations out there. Sadly, some of the biggest of these do not fund pediatric cancer research efforts in an equitable way when compared to adult cancers. We have chosen to support Alex's Lemonade Stand (among others) because they are a reputable organization with a 4 out of 4 star rating through Charity Navigator.  This means that they minimize overhead and administrative costs and that the most money possible goes to fight pediatric cancer.

How can YOU help?

There are 3 ways to help:

1.Be a Stand Volunteer: We need stand volunteers willing to work a 2 hour shift(s) on Sunday September 4 and Monday September 5. I will post volunteer shifts soon! The job is easy...make lemonade, serve lemonade, swat away bees, and sell baked goods!

2. Be a Baking Volunteer: I need a team of people who enjoy baking to donate 4 hours of their time to help bake the products we will sell. We will be selling lemon cookies, lemon poppy seed muffins, and lemon bars. We will be baking at the Oakfield United Methodist Church and our baking day will most likely be Friday September 2 in the evening. Last year my team was AMAZING and I try very hard to have everything organized so that the process is efficient.

3. Be a Stand Sponsor: 100% of money earned doing the 2 day event will go to the foundation. Therefore, there is a need for $300 to be raised ahead of time to fund supplies. If you or your business/organization are willing to donate for this purpose, your contribution will be used to buy supplies (lemonade, cups, ice, packaging, paper products,  ingredients for baked goods, fees).

In our first two years (2009 & 2010) we have raised a total of $4,181. It is our goal to exceed the $5,000 mark this year!

If you are willing to help in any of the above ways, please let me know. (FB message or email mwilliams91@rochester.rr.com)

At this point I am just trying to gather names of wonderful people who are willing to help. There will be details to follow!

Thank you SO very much-

Meg
