An Adventure with My Two Boys

"Whoa..it's raining, it's pouring, it's winding!"
That's a quote right out of Brady's mouth today! I feel like we haven't been outside to play in forever. I'm hoping some beautiful fall weather is just around the corner:)

Some updates: Cara continues to do great. Her eye is more red today than yesterday, but less swollen. She is still doing something strange with her head when looking in the distance. I notice her whining and crying at times and rubbing at her eye...almost as though she is frustrated. We are praying for a complete healing of her eye and that this vision problem will be resolved...thank you for continuing to pray for her. Thanks to our friends at the Indian Falls United Methodist Church...their Tuesday morning Bible Study group sent Cara a get well card and she felt SO special to get mail:)

During Cara's surgery, I had the nurse draw blood for a few tests that we have needed to have done. One was just a basic blood panel and the other was an initial allergy screening. Cara's iron is a little low, but I am SO happy to report that she did not show up allergic on the items they tested for (shellfish, milk, soy, egg...and a few others). I'm truly praising God for this one as I just didn't want to add one "more thing" to the list of ailments in this house! Now we are scratching our head at what happened the night of her "reaction." The fish she ate was haddock, which I don't think was specifically tested for, so I'm not sure how that works. Adding it to my list of questions for the doctor next time...

Tomorrow Brady, Eli, and I will have a fun day out together. I have never had just the boys out and about, so I'm excited to see how they do. We will start our day at PT, and I'm sure Eli is going to LOVE that. Our next stop is Brady's pre-anesthesia phsyical at 1pm. I'm bringing Eli along hoping that he can get a flu shot while we are there. Brady also needs to get caught up on his MMR and flu shot. We have from 9:30am until 1pm to kill time in Rochester...I'm thinking the mall and then lunch. My biggest concern is what "kid vehicle" to bring. At 2 1/2 I don't think they can walk all that way, and I don't think I want to be responsible for keeping track of them on the loose. They are too big for the double stroller, so I think I'll detach one car of the choo choo and just pull the two of them. It will certainly feel like a light load!

One more thing...I've recently become an Etsy.com shopper. It is basically a place for people to sell their handmade items (pretty much anything you can think of). Home Safe and Sound

Cara went into surgery at about 9:05 and was out by 9:15. She woke up from anesthesia VERY upset, it's amazing what that stuff does to toddlers. We had a long conversation with the anesthesiologist beforehand, of course grilling him about every drug he wanted to use. I was floored at the amount of medication needed for a 3-4 minute surgery!

The doctor says the surgery went great and that she should be fine later today. She stopped crying (and screaming and flailing!) once we got into the car. She slept most of the way home. She didn't want to eat lunch, but she did have some chocolate milk and marshmallows while laying on the couch. We have a rule around here that if you have surgery, you get to eat anything you want:)

Thank you for your prayers. I couldn't help be brought back to many memories while at the hospital today. I don't think I can ever see one of those pediatric metal cribs without welling up...but I did feel peace and serenity knowing Cara was in God's hands.

Here is a picture I took on my cell phone. She was so precious in her daddy's arms. I made him take her back to the operating room because I knew I would get upset. As he walked away with her, she looked over his shoulder and said, "Bye mommy, bye!" and blew me a kiss. She's so wonderful...

First Steps

So my little baby toddled today.  Yes, I know have 4 toddlers and a little bit of a broken heart. It’s so exciting to see her doing new things, but these steps are just another reminder of how fast my baby is growing up. Did you know she weighs almost as much as the boys, like within a pound or two?

Okay so putting the girls in matching outfits has become a new little passion of mine…too cute! Cara was finding cheerios for Allie (yes off of the floor) and feeding her!

Cara had a rough night last night and her nose was all runny this morning.  I think she has the cold that’s going around, but it doesn’t seem too bad. Eli continues to be pretty under the weather, Allie seemed better today, and Brady just really congested in his sinuses. There’s the Williams health report.

Tomorrow is the big day of Cara’s eye surgery. Please be praying for safe travel, Cara’s comfort as she can’t eat/drink, her safety as she goes under anesthesia and for the procedure, and for her eye problem to be completely resolved through this operation.  I just can’t wait to see those beautiful brown eyes again after the surgery…
