Miracle in Action

Brady has experienced a miraculous healing in the last year and a half (at least in my humble opinion:) It is hard to conceive that he has learned to walk and run and jump and play given nature of his spinal cord injury due to the tumor and two subsequent surgeries.

I need to get him a shirt that says… “I’m living proof!” I would love to see how many conversations a shirt like that could start with curious onlookers!

Despite all that he can do, there are things that are challenging for Brady. There is a curse and a blessing in the fact that Brady is a triplet. The curse being there are always going to be two siblings who may (or may not!) be able to do things faster and be stronger than him. The blessing is that Brady wants nothing more than to do just what they can do…so it motivates him!

Yesterday at the park Brady and I watched Cara and Eli walk up to this ladder and climb right up! Brady walked up to it, tried to put his foot up on the first wrung and realized it wasn’t going to be that easy!

My heart sank as I heard him whine with disappointment and frustration. But I firmly encouraged him to stop whining and keep trying. After a few more minutes of watching in envy as his siblings climbed the ladder over and over again, Brady decided that he had sat back and watched long enough.

Leading with his stronger right leg, he pulled up to the first wrung. His arms shook as he exerted himself as much as he could!  I struggled between wanting to take pictures of him and wanting to be right next to him helping him up. I decided to stand back and watch my miracle boy do something great!

And would you know what???

That is just what he DID!

God’s Word reminds us…

We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5:3-5

  1. Fantastic! Brady is a lucky little guy to have Eli and Cara to inspire him. And a wonderful Mummy to document his amazing journey.

  2. Meg,
You have learned a life lesson about standing back and letting your child struggle to learn and do! It does matter if your child is 3 or 36, it is still difficult to let them struggle. Please pray for my son, Daryl as he battles his demons.

    Love,
    Deb R.

  4. Wow...I'm a little speechless. How amazing that the blessing of Kodak or Cannon or whatever you're using can allow you to show us this AMAZING work of God. Seriously, it's amazing, Meg. That he did it. That you got it on film. That you have this venue to share it with all of us. THAT HE DID IT!!!! Thanx so much for giving every person that reads your blog so much inspiration-you are truly a blessed, gifted woman. I am blessed to know you.
