What’s Two More?

We had a fun day today with 6 kids in the house under the age of 4!!! My nieces spent the day here and my mom and I were 2 against 6:) They are always good girls and my kids love to interact with them, so it wasn’t hard at all! Well, I think getting everyone to the potty on time and remembering whose diaper needed to be changed was a little tricky!

Guess what the kids were up to in these pictures?

A jumping contest of course! I tried my best to get some shots while they were in the air!

As you can see, the boy we will call “Formerly Motor Delayed” was um…not inhibited in the least! The baby girls were too funny as they imitated the big kids only to kind of slide off the edge of the stools! Eli was a big party pooper during this activity, he was in the living room watching Clifford:(

I would like to play the part of the proud mommy and give you an update on potty training! I know you have just been on the edge of your seats waiting to hear all about the details concerning my children and their toileting! Remember, my blog is not only for your reading enjoyment, but also for a historical record of our family life. So please bear with me!

Eli: Eli is completely potty trained!!! He does it all on the potty and wears undies at naptime and overnight and stays completely dry! Hooray Eli!!! He was seriously the easiest child to potty train ever!

Cara: Cara is about 75% potty trained. She has a few accidents here and there, but let me tell you, they are no accident! She is wearing pull-ups at night and during naps because she hasn’t mastered this part yet. I’m trying to keep a sense of humor over the fact that when she is mad at us or has been disciplined that she will pee on the naughty spot, the floor, or whatever pillow or stuffed animal she can find. I guess it is a really good way for her to remind us that she has some control in her world. I’m trying really  hard to be patient in this area as I have thrown out my favorite throw pillow and a really cool sting ray stuffed animal in the last week. Moving on…

Brady: Guess what??? Brady has had a dry pull up for 4 straight days!!! He is staying dry during naps and overnight too! He is still trying to get the hang of using the potty for pooping, I’m just amazed at how far he has come. He tells me when he needs to go, runs in, and does it all by himself. The “just let him do it on his own time and stop bugging him” method of potty training really worked for him. Let’s hope that I don’t have to use this method later in life when it comes to cleaning his room and doing his homework!

So there you have it! A potty training update! For those of you who haven’t yet ventured into this anxiety-producing period of parenting…take heart! We have almost survived and I have to say that although I’ve had moments where I feel like I’ll never leave my little bathroom again, there is light at the end of the toilet-training-tunnel. You will survive!!!

  1. Too funny Meg! Sooo glad you got the camara back! Gotta tell you-that baby girl of yours just has my heart! For 1: she's not a triplet-always gonna have to make her own "noise", 2nd: she's the baby-been there, done that, remember it well, believe it or not!, and last, but not least: she reminds me so very much of my own baby girl...now 26, but still my baby girl! Thanx for sharing...even the potty training stories!

  2. Meg,
I think that this is a life lesson about your children and how they will approach learning in life. Isn't it amazing how each of their personalities comes out even in toilet training!
Sometimes we need just to hang back and let them take the bumpy road. Too often we try to control them too much or protect them from life lessons!

Yeah for you and your three little ones. Allie will be a dream to train. She'll want to be trained much earlier because of the older ones.

Happy Mothering!!!! and a special Happy Father's Day to Matt!!!!!

    Love you all,
    Deb R.
