A Story to Tell

So many little things have happened in the last 24 hours that have got me excited, thinking deeply, and praying for wisdom.

It's so cool to imagine that as we start each day we just never know what God has in store for us.

Last night I got a call from a relative on my husband's side of the family. She asked me if I would be willing to speak at a christian women's group this coming fall. I must say I immediately felt assured that this is something I needed to do. I guess that sounds strange, but I have just had this feeling lately that God wants me to use Brady's story, our family's story, for His purposes beyond just blogging about it. This phone call was that gentle reassurance that yes, God has given me this life, these experiences, and this story so that I can use it for His glory. I'm so excited (and in all honesty, a little scared) to put this all together and speak boldly in front of a large group.

Then tonight at our MOPS group, we had a pretty candid discussion about faith. I'm just so thankful for the women on our steering team and the opportunity we had tonight to discuss how we need to stay true to God's word in sharing about salvation. I practically ran in the door so that I could look up the verse that I had in my head but couldn't remember the number of the verse.

Romans 1:16 (New International Version)
16I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes...

I can't say that I have ever been ashamed of being a Christian, but certainly I haven't always shared boldly. The fear of rejection, being judged, or of offending someone who believes differently have all caused me to bite my lip at one time or another. I'm praying that God will continue to light a fire in me to share our story and our faith.

And then on the way home tonight, I was listening to a radio program (don't remember what one) but someone called in and was telling their story of personal tragedy. The woman said, God has turned my misery into ministry! Those words hit me right between the eyes!

So I'm asking you to keep these new opportunities for me to share in your prayers. Pray that I will speak boldly, unashamedly, and bring glory to God through our story.

  2. Meg,
There is nothing like feeling God has called you specifically to use your experiences to share His truth!!!! Really, what a wonderful privilege it is that He would ask us to be partners with Him in the furthering of His kingdom! Your story already has touched many - and I am excited with you as you continue to be led by Him to touch more lives!

You are so special to me - hope you know that!

  3. I am so not surprised that you have been approached to speak...I think you better get used to it, girlfriend. I've told you over & over-you have such a way with words, and soooo much to share. Not just your experiences, but your attitude, all you've learned thru this experience, and-most important-the way God has lifted you & carried you thru it. Please email me & let me know when & where you'll be speaking-I want to be in the front row!
