Back to Work

We had a busy day!!! The whole gang made it to church this morning and then grandma took Eli, Cara, and Allie home. Matt, Brady, and I drove to Webster for the Angels of Mercy Spaghetti Dinner. It was a great time and we are so thankful to this organization for donating a portion of their proceeds to benefit Brady. Thank you to all of our friends and family who came to the event as well! Brady had a great time eating spaghetti and cake:)

Here are two pictures from the benefit today. The "angels" at Angels of Mercy prayed over Brady:

Tomorrow it is back to business around here. I have several calls to make regarding some insurance issues and I need to touch base with the PT clinic to set up Brady's eval. Most importantly I need to call Sloan to see if the rest of the tests are back from Brady's surgery. We are continually praying that the results of the biology studies will still place Brady in the intermediate risk category. I also have to call Strong to set up a schedule for Brady's scans.

Since we have been home it is so easy to forget about the cancer world. Yes we have the daily care of Brady's Broviac and the constant reminders when looking at his scars. But we are home, no appointments for a while, and I guess I should feel really content. I just don't. I am struggling with this whole "monster under the bed" feeling that at any moment it will come crawling out and attack us once again. The parents who are in the monitoring phase call it "scanxiety"...all of the anxiety and fear that is wrapped up in the scanning and waiting phase. So I'm looking to God's word for strength and wisdom as we enter this next phase. I'm praying for courage and the ability to cherish each day despite the uncertain future. Thanks for letting me vent:)

  1. I know what we feel waiting for answers, can't imagine the minute by minute, second by second agonizing that taunts you. But you do have hope just imagine all those that don't know Jesus that are struggling w/this evil right now. We always believe the best, hope for the best, and expect the best from our Lord! Enjoy the kids!!!

  2. Vent away Megan, it allows you to get those thoughts and feelings out there so you can get through the day. I am so glad that the dinner was successful. We continue to lift you up daily and know that God will get you through this phase too.

  3. Hey Meg,

Glad the benefit was a hit. Hang in there. I can't imagine how difficult the "scanxiety" must be to handle. I hate when I don't know what's going on or will happen for far less important issues than this one. Do the best you can to relax and enjoy every day. I'm sure it is easier said than done.

Do you guys get down to the playground much? Is it worth it to go or are you pretty well set up at your own place for playground "stuff"? Do you go to the library at all? Just wondering. I like to learn how other moms of young kids spend their days--gives me good ideas. :o) We go to the library a lot and even run a physical activity program there. We'll have to "bring the program to you" some day. Enjoy the sun.

  5. The pictures of the Angels praying over Brady brought tears to my eyes. I pray everyday for healing of sweet Brady and for peace for you!

I too am glad you have a place to vent! I certainly struggle with patience on a DAILY basis and I can't not imagine having much patience when it came to my son's life! Thank goodness that God is in control, that He knows the outcome and that we can turn to Him at anytime!

Praying for you today, that you have a great day with the kids, get all the stuff done that you need to, and that you have peace.

    :)

  7. Hi! You don't know me, but someone who knows you goes to my grandmother's church in Elba, NY. We too are praying for a little boy who turned 2 in January that was recently diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. I have sent the mom a note with your blog address. We will be keeping you, Brady and your entire family in our prayers!

  8. Meg,
How did Brady react while everyone was laying hands on him and praying? I believe has a very special mission for Brady.

Enjoy your "down" time together! (as if there is ever any down time with 4 little ones)

    Rest in God's graces,
    Deb R.
