Dear Jesus

It was a day. One of those days when a mom of toddlers wants to just open the door and run. Lucky for my kids it was freezing out today so I chose to stay inside with them!

I felt like a prison guard today, one "incident" after another, one timeout after another, one screaming child after another. Thank goodness we all made it to 5pm in one piece. I was elated when Matt walked through the door. After a dinner of mini pizza bagels, canned peaches, and leftover green beans (this type of meal is only served after a day like today), I knew it would only be a few hours till bed time. Matt plays basketball on Mondays, so I was flying solo during those lovely early evening hours with 4 children less than 3.

The craziness continued...but I finally had all 4 in bed. Allie was fast asleep. Teeth had been brushed, faces washed, diapers changed, bedtime books read. All we had to do was pray. Sounds easy enough right?

Only a day like today could end like this...

Me: Okay guys, let's pray (I fold my hands)

Cara: (in the loudest, most obnoxious voice possible) JESUS, GOD, JESUS, GOD, JESUS, GOD, JEEEE....

Me: Cara! You don't have to yell, God can hear you just fine with your nice quiet voice. Come on guys, let's pray. Dear Jesus...

Eli: Mommy! I have boogers on my finger!

Me: (as I clean off the boogers) Seriously guys, Let's pray. Dear Jesus, thank you for our day. Please help us to...

Brady: (the sound that came from his backside at this point lasted 10 seconds and can only be described this way...) ffffffrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtttt!

Eli, Cara, Brady: Heeeheee Heeee! HaaaaHaaa!!!!!

Brady: That was me!

Me: (bows my head) Thank you Jesus for your sense of humor! AMEN!!!

  1. Ha!! Gotta love those days. At least the kids are funny (when you're not too frustrated to stop and think about it--I know how that goes :o) ). Hope you're taking a break now.

  2. All I can say is 1) yes thank God for a sense of humor
    2) be glad you are writing this down so that you can remember it and laugh later and 3) thank you for sharing this so others can laugh even though when they have stressful days too.
We will be praying for you this month as Dr. appointments draw nearer.

  3. Dear Meg,
Tears are running down my face as I am laughing out loud. I can understand your frustration but just think how lucky you are to have these wonderful healthy children to keep you on your toes and to have something to write about in your blog.

Rest tonight because you will need all the energy you can muster for tomorrow! Who knows what will happen. Enjoy these times because before you know it they will be out and about.

    Cherish these times!!!!

A mom with six kids that range from 25 to 40 and missing the crazy days of having toddlers.
    Love, Deb R.

  4. We had the same kind of day! Is there a full moon? Good luck with your tomorrow!!! :)

    :) karen

  5. Meg-You are just about the greatest writer I know! Honestly, I laughed out loud so hard I scared the cat right off my computer desk!!! I've told you this before, but please, please, PLEASE think about writing a book! (Or better yet-BOOKS!!)
    Love you-
    Cindy L.
