I need a secretary!

What exactly happened today? Days are passing by one by one, and we don't seem to be getting anywhere!!! I called Sloan this morning to see if they received the fax yet, they hadn't. They told me that they already had called Strong and that they were working on it. Seriously, how hard is it!!!! Short of driving the papers to NYC myself (which I did consider) I decided to take a deep breath and focus on the insurance stuff. I spoke with the insurance person at Sloan who told me approval through our insurance was pending. He gave me a reference number and told me that the insurance company would be calling. Given that very few things ever go according to plan around here, I decided to call my case worker and check up on what the rep at Sloan had told me. Come to find out the reference number he gave me was a number related to a claim from one of Brady's stays at Strong...huh? The case worker was stumped as to how/why he gave me that number. She gave me a link to the authorization form that needs to be filled out and I immediately called Strong and our wonderful NP is on the job. She is fantastic and when she says things will happen, they do. Progress today?....I guess a little, but I feel no closer to Sloan than I did yesterday. It's funny to want to go somewhere so badly, yet the thought of actually going there scares me beyond belief. It's weird because the last time Matt and I have been on a trip is when we went to NYC with friends when we were first married, before kids! Needless to say, this doesn't feel like a vacation!

So, faithful friends, please keep this process in your prayers. I just keep praying that God will continue to open the doors necessary to get Brady to NYC. I'm starting to pray daily for the surgeon, Dr. Laquaglia. I have heard that he is a man of faith and that he gives all the glory to God for what he is able to do surgically. Hopefully tomorrow will bring news of some progress! One more thing, Brady has an appointment next Wednesday at CP of Rochester to start physical therapy. We are hoping to get in a few sessions before we go.

  3. Hey Megan,

Just a thought, I was telling my husband about your situation with Sloan and he suggested having the paperwork Fed Ex'd with return signatures requested. This way the paper work gets there and you know who got it. Then he said get it all copied and he would hand deliver it, as he is only a couple of hours from NYC, (he is in New Jersey). Being that we are blessed with eight grandchildren we hurt when we know of others that are hurting because of a child's illness. We will continue to pray and seek God's assistance for you. Yvonne

  4. Hey Meg,

Is it common to fax 350 pages between doctors' offices? I honestly don't know. Most regular office fax machines wouldn't have the memory to handle so many pages, though. I wonder if that's the case here, and that's why the faxes aren't arriving? You've probably already thought of this, but what about sending everything via FedEx? It could be there by the next morning and you'd be able to track it online to verify it arrived. Another option is PDQ (or another local courier service), which may be able to get it there the same day, but I'm not certain about that considering the distance, and it may be much more expensive. FedEx is extremely reliable and cost-effective in my experience. Keep plugging along. You're perseverence will pay off!!! :o) Good thinking praying for the doctor. God will make a way for everything that is needed.

  6. Megan,
I am still praying for you and your family daily. Remember, God has each step of this process in his loving, faithful hands. He is not going to let go of you. I think you need a personal assistant...a step above a secretary! Then, they can bring you hot tea or coffee to you while you are sitting on the phone...oh yeah and some cookies too!!!!
    Love,
    Ginny

  7. Megan-

thanks you so much for the card with Brady's picture on it. He is just adorable. I have it on my desk at work. We have him on our prayer list at home and having his picture helps me to pray for him through out the day. My daughter - Emily- is 4 and tells me every night that we have to pray for Brady and for the other kids that are sick so that they will get better and their mommy's wont be sad. I believe the the prayers of small children have a special place in God's heart - they are so full of unquestionable faith!
We hold your family up daily before the Lord and cant wait to see the victory story!

  8. Hi there. I understand how frustrating it is trying to get all the records, scans, etc. transfered. It took us almost 2 months to get Jak's records to Sloan in the right format. Once NY had his files things moved fast, they called on a Friday and said be here Tuesday for surgery. Sorry you are going through this. Hopefully it all gets resolved quickly. Good luck.
